I just don't know where to go with this book. It definitely wasn't what I was hoping for or expecting. I don't really have a lot of words...This book was good... slow, but good, for the first half. I wasn't sure exactly where it was going to take me. I didn't know who to trust. Who was sane. Who wasn't sane.Then the second half of the book hits... I thought for sure things were going to really heat up... Unfortunately this is where the book took a dive for me. It lost me. It derailed. It completely spun out of control. I figured out pretty much everything really fast. And the twists were just so unbelievable and in left field, I felt highly disappointed.I will be honest, I felt disconnected to these characters. I felt like I was in a fog, not quite able to see them in my head. They just didn't do a lot for me. Maybe that's because the book ended up so far out in left field that I just had a hard time digesting everything as a whole.I won't let this deter me from reading future books from this author. I have loved her previous co-authored books. This book just wasn't it for me.
I purchased this book based on the premise and the fact that I LOVED The last Mrs. Parrish so much that it nearly didn't decide to move in with my partner of years, because I found myself wondering if my partner was going to wake me up one night with a gun in my mouth. So, READ The Last Mrs. Parrish.From page one this book just...wasn't nearly as good. The writing was bad. It felt stunted. It felt like it was written by not the same people who wrote The Last Mrs. Parrish. The writing was so bad that I found myself reading the "blurbs" wondering how it got such good reviews.It wasn't the story that was bad. It was the writing. Perhaps because of this it is a much quicker read than The Last Mrs. Parrish, and I definitely will still check out the authors next book. I just won't purchase it without taking it for a spin first next time.
So disappointed in this. As others have said, the Last Mrs. Parrish was a great read and based on that and that this was an Amazon pick of the month, I had high hopes — but unfortunately it was a waste of a few hours. Slow start (first 3/4 of book), wooden characters, rambling plot — by the time the reveals came I was having trouble remembering who was who enough to care. For me a big snore.

It's a creepy murder mystery with so much more including hidden secrets, lies, marriage, betrayals, mother-daughter relationships, unreliable narrators. Unexpected Twists and turns galore, great pace, and carefully developed characters.I won't give anything away, but this amazing novel is a must read and perfect choice for a book club. Happy reading!
I LOVED Last Mrs ParrishThat being said, I didn’t get this book. It’s written in two voices. Main character whose mother was murdered, and her former BFF who reappears for the funeral.Spoiler now: the bff’s voice was sane and rational the entire time. Then just to have a “twist†or whatever, they make her insane. Like, clinically insane. One minute she’s wearing couture and helping (convincingly) to solve a murder, and literally right after that she’s in a rubber room and thinks she’s Angelina Jolie about to get an Oscar. There was absolutely nothing leading up to that. It wasn’t a “shocking twist†it was a ridiculous and lazy way to end the book.Don’t let this detract from reading LMP. It really was excellent.
